It’s been a while since our last Netflix roundup, but that’s only because we’ve been busy binge watching the picks below…
Once Upon A Time
Okay, so it takes a little while to get into this show (the whole of season one, in fact) but it’s something to stick with. As soon as season two comes around, it’s already too late – you’ve been sucked in!
Once Upon A Time follows the story of Emma (Jennifer Morrison) as she discovers the fairy-tale world she’s read in the story books is actually real, and she just so happens to have some very famous fairytale character parents. Emma is guided to the town of Storybrooke in Maine, where the fairytale characters are now living – cursed, unable to remember who they really are and haven’t aged a day in 28 years.
If you can stick it out for a slow start, it’s really quite an enjoyable watch with genuinely gripping and unexpected storylines.
Our latest Amazon Instant Video find is a good ‘un. We didn’t pay much attention to Vikings when we saw it airing on the History Channel, but decided to give it a watch after it arrived on Amazon Prime.
Well, 3 seasons later and we’re hooked. Expect lots of death, blood, war and topless Viking men. Vikings follows the ancient tale of Ragnar Lothbrok, the show shows his journey from a simple farmer and warrior with a dream to sail west and explore; to his quick succession to becoming King of Denmark. Besides all the butchering, Ragnar is a family man at heart and one of our favourite parts of the show is getting to see more of what Viking life was really like as well as those incredible braided hairstyles…
A new Netflix and Marvel Collaboration see’s the superhero Daredevil being revamped, and compared to the film it’s a huge, huge improvement.
We’re only up to episode 5 (of 13) so far but it’s already become tradition to sit down in the evening and indulge in an episode or two. Daredevil, in case you didn’t know, follows Matt Murdock, a blind lawyer who also happens to fight crime and injustice in the evenings as masked superhero Daredevil – you know, just the casual spare time kind of stuff we all get up to.
If you fancy a gripping watch for the evenings, Daredevil is the kind of series you could watch a season a day.
