Online Classes: Learn Something New

Want to take better photos, learn calligraphy or even push your blog to the next step? There’s a class for that…

From the blogging superstars Elsie & Emma of A Beautiful Mess, we couldn’t not include one of their e-courses when creating this roundup. The girls have taken their blog from it’s humble beginning and transformed it into a million dollar company in just a few years, with books, Apps and products to their name.
If you should take blogging advice from anyone, it’s probably them. This course takes you through the basics of blogging right up to monetizing and creating a strong, consistent brand for your blog that you can be proud of.

We love the Pinch Of Yum food blog, one quick browse and your stomach is grumbling for hours dreaming of those gorgeous recipes… not that we do that often, no sir.
Their food photography e-course is perfect for any of you foodie bloggers that want to take your photography to the next level, with everything from technical camera talk, lighting, composition and editing tips in one easy to digest guide.

FUNDAMENTALS OF PHOTOSHOP, $10 per month via Skillshare
Skillshare is an online community for content creators to share skills and classes for everything from developing your own writing techniques to marketing your business and jewellery making.
Membership is $10 a month but this gives unlimited access to over 1000 classes, so even if you only sign up for one or two months, binge watch the classes you like and then move on, it will probably have been worth it.

Our first Skillshare pick is Fundamentals Of Photoshop by Meg Lewis, who has created an in-depth course for beginners designed to teach you the ins and outs of photoshop at your own pace. There are seven separate classes you can enrol in with Meg and teach yourself the very basics from understanding layers all the way up to dealing with blending, the pen tool and more. This is a great course for anyone who wants to get to grips with the mammoth Application that is Photoshop, and Meg is a great, friendly teacher to listen to.

This handy 90 minute crash course in social media will open your eyes and have you feeling focused and ready to take your social media profiles to the next level.
It’s more focused towards a business level but we’ve found the information to be really eye-opening and the individual case studies a great behind the scenes look at business-level social media.
The course looks at the main five; Facebook, Tumblr, Instagram, Twitter and Pinterest, and teaches you how to be more strategic with your posts.

Our final Skillshare class is an intro in to modern calligraphy with Bryn Chernoff. Hand lettering is having a bit of a moment right now and it’s a great skill to have.
Bryn offers up a friendly and easy way to introduce you in to hand lettering without the pressure of becoming perfect straight away. There are printables available for you to practice with, and the class moves at a steady pace so you’ll be left feeling comfortable to create your own calligraphy.
Have you ever taken an online class?
