Best Of The Best: Body Oils

body-oilsBody oils are expensive, yes, but they just so happen to be so much more luxurious than a body cream or slap on and go ’spray on’ lotion. They turn any old bath or shower routine into something a little more special, a true treat for the skin and senses.

AURELIA FIRM & REVITALISE DRY BODY OIL, £48
Our long standing favourite body oil; Aurelia’s dry body oil has graced the pages of Nouvelle a few times now (most recently here) and with good reason as it’s completely unlike any other oil in our collection. The featherweight oil feels almost like water and sinks into skin immediately. This is one of our top picks for a night out too as it give legs a perfected look with a sexy sheen and not a hint of grease.

The Neroli, Lavender, Mandarin and Rose scent is beautiful and something we look forward too every time we reach for the bottle. Also it’s worth noting that at £48 for 100ml this is the most expensive oil here, but completely worth the splurge in our opinion as a bottle will probably last you months and months.

BALANCE ME SUPER MOISTURISING BODY OIL, 24.50
We didn’t realise the connection until writing this post, but the reason we love this oil is because it smells so similar to the Aurelia oil! It’s nowhere near as generous with the essential oils and has some Chamomile in there too to calm and aid relaxation, but you can’t miss the Neroli and Mandarin scent. This is the perfect oil to use after indulging in a night time bath, it’s deeply moisturising with Rosehip and Macadamia oils and the thicker texture means applying to wet skin is your best bet to have it absorb quickly. It softens skin with ease and preps your perfectly for slumber with that dreamy scent.

MAKE SKINCARE PINK GRAPEFRUIT BODY OIL, £45
If a complex essential oil blends aren’t for you, or you just really love zesty scents then the MAKE Grapefruit oil is a no-brainer. This is perhaps the richest oil of the four and banishes dry skin in seconds (apply after your morning shower to wake up the senses with a quick circulation-boosting massage). The ingredients list is beautifully simple with Avocado, Apricot, Kiwi Seed and Moringa oils to moisturise, improve elasticity and give you a little glow, whilst the grapefruit essential oil is paired with geranium and rose otto for a deliciously fruity floral aroma.

DE MAMIEL SALVATION BODY OIL, £70
Before you write off this pick at £70 completely, know ours in the photo is just a miniature! The full size is a generous 200ml and still cheaper ml for ml than Aurelia’s oil, just to put it into perspective. A complete luxury purchase if ever there was one, even though we’re often caught spending this much on our skincare, to spend so much on body care just seems criminal, however after using this we’re not so sure we’ll be able to resist. Argan, Camellia, Baobab and Prickly pear seed oil are just a few exotic ingredients included here, whilst the scent is divine and hard to describe; Frankincense, Bergamot, Myrrh, Jasmine and Sandalwood sound overwhelming but they work together effortlessly to create an addictive, warming scent. So good it could (and should) be a perfume.

Are you more of a body oil or body cream kinda gal? (or guy!)

I’m a mix of oil and lotion, oils are great for more delicate sensitive areas – I love Palmers Coconut oil range, it’s so light but smells like summer!
