There’s nothing sweeter than a homemade card, especially our cute and quirky washi tape versions! These are personal, oh so soppy and they don’t cost a fortune either…
You Will Need:
- Blank A5 card – we went for brown but white would work
- Washi tape in various prints
- Dymo Jnr. Label Maker
- Gold spray paint
- Spare card
There’s no real steps here as once you have the tools you can play about with your card until it’s just right. We stuck down a piece of Washi tape and then made little sentences with the Dymo label maker and stuck them down over the top.
We also cut out a couple hearts from card – we stuck lines of different washi tape down over one and glued this to the card, and the other we used as a stencil to spray paint around for a subtle heart effect.
Think of little sayings you tell your loved one, BFF, cat or whoever you’re planning on giving your card to. We went for “I like you more than cats”, “You have nice hair” and a simple “I love you.”
Experiment with different layers of washi tape, spray paint the card all gold or even cover the card completely with different colours and patterns of tape.
If you’re a patient person, you could also cut or use a heart-shaped stamper to make lots of little hearts out of the Washi tape and stick them on all over the front of the card.
Once you’re set, sign your card (or keep it a secret!), pop it in an envelope and seal with Washi tape. We went one step further and wrapped some red ribbon around our envelope because we’re cool like that.
Will you be making your own Valentine’s cards this year?
